So many good points in the podcast! I’m also terrible at reading books by publishers I’m submitting to, reading their blogs, and/or following them on Facebook or twitter, but it’s so important to do some combination of those things both to show support and to get to know them (as a form of research).

Also, totally agree that authors need to marry language to their fantasy world – this drives me nuts, too and will throw me out of the story instantly when contemporary language and even ideas/concepts sneak their way in.

Sunny – What is the difference between science fiction and fantasy. Before you read your excerpt you said there was no fantasy in the story. But isn’t another planet with an alien race fantasy? I ask this out of ignorance. Also, can you explain how the fiction market works?

I love this not-podcast and the excerpt. I hope you post more excerpts like it and that your exams go well too.

I’m sad to hear it’s been hard for you to sell your pieces because I love your writing. And I for one think you are quite good at it. Hopefully talking about it all will help you get past all this. If nothing else, I’m sure continuing to write will.

And I know there probably isn’t anything I can do, but if there is something I can do or you need someone else to talk to, let me know.

A little late in catching up on my google reader here, so I just read this, but I also really liked your story! It may not be romantic, but it’s definitely erotic. And I loved the way you took the usual “sucked-up-in-cyberspace-addiction” and turned it back to the physical, yet not.
